Philosophy and History published reviews in English of current German-language research publications in philosophy, history and related fields. It was established in 1968 as part of the German Studies series that provided current surveys in English of German language research in various fields. The purpose of these surveys was to introduce contemporary German scholarship to an international academic readership through the English language. The German Studies series consisted of four sections:
Philosophy and History, Section I
Modern Law and Society, Section II
Literature, Music, Fine Arts, Section III
Mundus, Section IV
Philosophy and History was edited by the Institute for Scientific Cooperation in Tübingen, Germany. It ceased publication in 1991. The entire collection is now available in electronic format.
