The Philosophical Review (1995-2004)
Edited by the Faculty of the Sage School of Philosophy of Cornell University
The Philosophical Review publishes original, scholarly work in all areas of philosophy, with an emphasis on material of interest to generalists. Four issues are published annually, each containing two to four articles and 20-25 book reviews. The journal was established in 1892 and has published continually every since. A 'Prefatory Note' in the first issue expressed editorial policy that continues to rule: 'the Review will combine an impartiality and catholicity of tone and spirit. It will not be the organ of any institution, of any sect, or of any interest ... it must be ... an absolutely free organ, national and international, of general Philosophy.'
The Philosophy Documentation Center offers electronic access to a selection of back issues of The Philosophical Review through POIESIS: Philosophy Online Serials. Coverage is limited to issues 104:4 through 113:4 (Oct.1995-Oct.2004).
